Nikola Barboutov

Nikola Barboutov is the Deputy Mayor of Sofia, responsible for tourism, international relations, ЕU funding and projects and business development. With a BSc in International finance (University of Portsmouth) and a master’s degree in Construction Economics and Management from University College London (UCL), Nikola has led a construction company and founded two startups.

In his role at Sofia Municipality, he focuses on innovation, international partnerships, and promoting Sofia as an attractive destination for tourism and investment. He leads initiatives related to digital transformation, EU funding, and AI integration in public administration. Nikola also actively represents Sofia on global platforms such as Eurocities, the UN, and investment forums in Europe and the Middle East.

He is a strong advocate for creative city branding, modern infrastructure, and empowering local communities through smart and sustainable projects.
